In launching its 60 MW plant, Tindo Solar said that the facility is capable of manufacturing 240,000 panels per annum.

The plant is currently Australia’s only solar PV manufacturing plant, following the closure of the SilexSolar manufacturing plant in Sydney in May 2012.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard was present at the launch of the plant.

Tindo Solar Manager of People and Business Richard Inwood said “The interest received so far by the public across Australia confirms our belief that Australians want to select an Australian-made solar module that has quality and performance embedded in each panel and at a price not a great deal different to imported panels.”
